Anushya Tlauka
Professional experience
Anushya is an experienced social worker with over 13 years in the mental health field. She began her career as a recovery mentor in a humanitarian entrants program, where she developed a strong foundation in recovery-oriented and wraparound care. This work shaped her commitment to person-centred practice, cultural responsiveness, and supporting individuals impacted by trauma.
Her approach is grounded in lived experience, collaboration, and respect, with a focus on creating a safe and empowering therapeutic space.
Since 2017, Anushya has worked in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector, building expertise in evidence-based therapies including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, ACT, and IFS. She has
supported clients experiencing domestic and family violence, substance use challenges, and involvement with child protection, justice systems, and homelessness, often working with complex presentations such as PTSD and borderline personality disorder.
Anushya offers a dual-focused approach, providing practical support for immediate concerns while also helping clients explore deeper patterns to support meaningful, long-term change.
