Lia Lawton
Professional experience
Lia is a psychologist with a keen understanding of how issues, both physical and psychological, profoundly impact all facets of an individual’s life. Her experience in private practice, occupational rehabilitation, and job placement agencies has equipped her with the ability to work with a broad spectrum of clients, addressing a diverse range of presentations.
Her studies reflect a deep interest in the intersection of psychology and sexuality, allowing her to offer specialised care in such areas. Beyond this, Lia’s clinical interests span a wide spectrum, covering relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and behaviour issues. She can also offer support to individuals navigating through complex traumas, sexual assault, gender dysphoria, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and domestic violence.
Embracing a flexible and individualised approach, she employs therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectal behaviour therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy, always eager to explore new methods to better serve her clients. With compassion and acceptance, Lia fosters a therapeutic environment where clients can feel empowered to embark on transformative journeys toward healing and self-discovery.

What Lia loves about working in mental health
“I love seeing my clients get their ‘ah-ha’ moments. I love helping to empower people, and equipping them with the skills and understanding to promote healing, and to find who they were meant to be.”
