Rochelle Smith
Professional experience
Rochelle is a Registered Psychologist with broad experience having worked in the areas of workplace health, EAP services, hospitals and community care, pain management outpatient services, paediatrics, and clinical private practice.
Rochelle works with adults in the areas of coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment to change, work-related concerns, chronic pain, perinatal issues, and grief and loss.
Her approach is grounded in the belief that while we may not be able to control circumstances, we can change how we relate to them – and that shift can be deeply therapeutic.
Rochelle works from an integrative perspective, honouring the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She is trained in psychological treatment modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Rochelle has a particular interest in EMDR and in helping individuals to release unresolved experiences that continue to shape their inner world – how they think, feel, and respond. This involves working with the nervous system and targets the neurological storage of emotions and memories to ‘unstick’ them, by reactivating the brains natural processing system.
Rochelle creates a warm, non-judgemental space to allow her clients to express and process mental and emotional challenges in a validating and supportive way. She aims to promote self-awareness, empowerment, and growth within her sessions, allowing individuals to reconnect with their strengths, and develop a strong sense of self-compassion and self-worth.
